SLOT machine OR VENDING machine

DID I hear you SAY your IT Contracting practice is more like a SLOT machine and not like a VENDING Machine?

Rob.. I'm curious to know.. exactly what do you MEAN by that!!!

Well an IT Contracting Practice that operates like a SLOT machine is one where you

(a) put a coin in the slot and
(b) HOPE for the BEST that you HEAR all the coins clatter when they spill out of the TRAY and onto the floor after you pressed the button.

This works, it is easy, and thankfully requires no effort and is fun... for a while.

UNFORTUNATELY eventually the coins (in the cup you hold in your hand).. run dry with nothing left to put in the slot...

THATS what I refer to as an IT Contracting Practice that operates like a SLOT Machine.

It favors the BOOM time.

So what is the VENDING Machine you ask?

Well that is when you go to a vending machine and you PRESS the Coca Cola button.. you expect to get Coca Cola.. AND you ALWAYS do!! It gives you a sense of security, predictability and I suspect certainty.

UNLIKE the SLOT machine theh VENDING machine FAVORS the PROFESSIONAL

UNFORTUNATELY the VENDING Machine requires that you have a very specific and highly TARGETED practice where you KNOW EXACTLY what will come out the BOTTOM when you PRESS the CONTRACT button. If that make sense
